Retreat Reflections: Sounds of Inspirations

Updated: Oct 1

This past weekend I had the joy of hosting Sounds of Inspirations, a retreat that brought together sound baths, yoga, creativity, and the sacred medicine of cacao. Looking back, I can honestly say it was one of those weekends where the schedule was simply the container or guideline in the physical world—what unfolded within it was far deeper, more healing, and profoundly human.

Friday Evening: Sound Bath & Arriving in Stillness

We began with a grounding meditation, allowing everyone to settle into the retreat space. From there, we moved into a sound bath—a journey of vibration and resonance designed to calm the mind and soften the body. It was powerful yet serene, leaving us all open and connected. Nobody rushed off afterwards; instead, we found ourselves sharing stories and reflections late into the evening.

Saturday: Yoga, Creativity & Cacao Ceremony

Saturday opened with Mindful Movements—a gentle yoga session focusing on the creativity centre, encouraging flow and self-expression. Afterward, we enjoyed a nourishing three-course vegetarian lunch that truly felt like food for the soul.

In the afternoon, the energy shifted into creativity. Through journaling, each person wrote a poem, then gave it colour and form with watercolour painting. These creations became keepsakes—tangible reminders of their retreat journey. Emotions surfaced, stories were shared, and we faced it all together, supported by the warmth of sangha—a true spiritual community.

The evening was held in the sacred embrace of an ixCacao Ceremony. We placed candles around the altar in the directions of the medicine wheel, shared our poems, and invited the spirit of ixCacao—the Chocolate Goddess—into our circle. The ceremony unfolded over four hours, a powerful and transformative journey where deep healing took place.

Sunday: Closing with Sound & Silence

On Sunday morning, we gathered once more for a closing sound journey. When it ended, no one spoke for several minutes—we simply sat together in silence, each person resting in the clarity of their experience. Some had received answers, others found peace, and all carried home fresh intentions for their path ahead.

The Message of the Weekend: Listen

As I reflect on the retreat, the message that lingers is simple yet profound: listen. Not to rush, not to force, not to create unnecessary anxiety. Just to stop, breathe, accept, and observe. In that stillness, space opens for laughter, love, and life itself.

Everyone left with a lighter step, a new perspective, and the reminder that inspiration is always available when we create the space to listen.

A woven tray holds a candle, feathers, crystals, and a wooden bowl on a colorful cloth. Brass bowls and a drum are in the background. Calm atmosphere.
